About · what this site is for

Dividend Watcher watches monthly distribution press releases from major Canadian ETF issuers and sends you a Telegram alert as soon as one is detected — so you don’t miss the 15th–25th window.

Every month, managers like Hamilton ETFs, Harvest ETFs, Purpose Investments, Global X, Ninepoint Partners, Evolve ETFs, and Brompton Funds publish distribution rates. Those releases often land around the same time on Business Wire, GlobeNewswire, or Newsfile — and they’re easy to miss.

This site automatically follows those sources during the active window (days 15–25, Toronto time), shows who already announced, estimates upcoming dates (Drop Watch), keeps history, and pushes pings to the Telegram notification group.

A free tool for Canadian income / covered-call ETF investors who want a clear view: announced vs waiting, calendar, and probabilities.

FAQ

Common questions about Dividend Watcher, Canadian ETFs, and distribution alerts.

What is Dividend Watcher?

A dashboard + Telegram bot that detects monthly distribution announcements from the watched Canadian ETF issuers (Hamilton, Harvest, Purpose, Global X, Ninepoint, Evolve, Brompton) and notifies you when they drop.

Why the 15th–25th window?

The calendar follows releases from the 15th to the 25th. Brompton HighPay drops earlier (around the 6th–10th): it is on the counter, This month, Drop Watch and Changes, and Telegram checks it then. The 15–25 calendar does not list it. Outside those windows we don’t scrape; the site stays readable year-round.

How do Telegram alerts work?

Click here to join the notification group (Telegram link on this page). When a valid announcement is detected, a single message is sent to the group (de-duplicated by month / title).

What are Drop Watch and the percentages?

Drop Watch estimates the next announcement day from the last 12 months (recent ones weigh more). Always a business day: Saturday, Sunday and Canadian holidays get no heat and 0% chance — that mass rolls to Monday. The 15–25 grid also follows the usual weekday (e.g. often a Thursday). The site only shows the last 3 months. Harvest also uses its official calendar. Not financial advice.

Which managers / ETFs are tracked?

Counter, This month, Drop Watch and Changes: Hamilton ETFs, Harvest ETFs, Harvest High Income Shares (HHIS), Purpose Investments, Global X, Ninepoint Partners, Evolve ETFs, and Brompton HighPay only. The 15–25 calendar does not list Brompton. BMAX, CLSA and the others: see the next question.

Why are BMAX, CLSA and other Brompton ETFs missing?

Brompton does not publish a single monthly release the way Hamilton or Harvest do. HighPay (PAYG, PAYI, PAYU) drops around the 7th; the core ETF suite (BMAX, BDIV, and others) around the 24th and can already lock rates for three months; CLSA often has its own Split Corp release; sometimes a separate hike (“Increased ETF Distributions”), plus CLO lines. The counter, This month, Drop Watch and Changes include only the HighPay series. The 15–25 calendar does not list it. Telegram alerts for Brompton still run. If Brompton ever announces the same way as the other managers (one release, one month, one ticker table), ETF Watcher will add them.

Is this investment advice?

No. Dividend Watcher is an information and alerting tool. It does not recommend buys or sells. Always check official releases and make your own decisions.

Does the 0/8 counter reset every month?

Yes — automatically on the 1st (Toronto time): the counter follows the current month. The 8th slot is Brompton HighPay. The 15–25 calendar stays the other managers. The site shows 3 months; Drop Watch estimates use up to 12 months of stored announcements.

How do I read the amount changes?

We compare the per-payment amount with last month. Semi-monthly: that amount is paid twice (×2 badge on that month). If an ETF changes cadence, we compare the monthly total. Green = hike, red = cut, grey = unchanged. Empty month = not pinged yet.

How is the yield calculated?

Latest per-payment amount × 12 (monthly) or × 24 (semi-monthly), divided by the latest Yahoo close in the same currency: TSX as .TO, NEO as .NE. HHIS example: $0.27 × 12 / $11.62 = 27.9%. It is not a twelve-month trailing return, not a live price, and not advice. The Change column beside it compares the payment with the previous month. There is no yield when the ETF has not launched, has no payment, or the close is older than five business days.

Buy the alerts a coffee?

Dividend Watcher stays free for you, but the infra behind it (Worker, scraping, alerts) isn’t. If a ping helped you catch a distribution, a small thank-you goes a long way — buy me a coffee 🙂
